Hillary Clinton testified that she never met Jeffrey Epstein and accused Republicans of orchestrating a “political theater” surrounding her deposition related to the convicted sex offender, according to multiple reports. The former Secretary of State’s testimony came during a deposition as part of a lawsuit brought by Epstein accusers.
Clinton Denies Knowledge of Epstein’s Crimes
Clinton stated under oath that she had no recollection of ever meeting Epstein, and had no knowledge of his alleged crimes. The deposition focused on five pre-agreed upon topic areas, CNN reported.
During the deposition, Clinton characterized the proceedings as a politically motivated effort by the GOP. The Washington Post reported Clinton derided her deposition as GOP ‘political theater.’
The testimony comes after a judge ordered Clinton to sit for a deposition in the case brought by Virginia Giuffre and others who accuse Epstein of sexual abuse. Giuffre previously alleged Clinton was among those who flew on Epstein’s private jet, known as the “Lolita Express.”
Neighbors of Clinton offered varied reactions to the testimony, with some expressing skepticism and others defending the former First Lady, according to USA Today.
The deposition is part of a broader legal battle stemming from Epstein’s crimes and the allegations against him and his associates.
