At least three people have been rushed to hospital following a gas explosion from a barbecue at the BIG4 Ingenia Holidays park at Lake Conjola on the NSW South Coast.

Gas Explosion at Lake Conjola Holiday Park Injures Multiple People

Emergency services were called about 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 30 after reports of a barbecue explosion at the BIG4 Ingenia Holidays park at Lake Conjola on the NSW South Coast, Australia.

Multiple paramedic units responded to the explosion and an ambulance rescue helicopter was also dispatched to the scene. Two of the patients requiring treatment are children under the age of five.

A man in his 30s was flown to Wollongong Hospital for facial injuries and is in a stable condition.

Three of the injured were taken to Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital, including a woman and two children under the age of five.

The woman, who is in her 30s, is being treated for abdominal injuries and is in a stable condition, while the two children are being treated for minor injuries.

Footage shared online shows rubble and a destroyed barbecue area, with twisted metal and belongings scattered across the scene.

One eyewitness described the terrifying moment the explosion occurred. They said: “I was sitting on the balcony and it was just a huge explosion.” The witness said a holidaying family had been preparing breakfast on the barbecues when the blast happened.

A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said the incident was ongoing, reports nine News.
