How Israel’s hilltop settlers coordinate attacks to expel Palestinians

The Jewish settler outpost of Or Meir, a small collection of prefabricated structures in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, exemplifies a pattern of expansion that some Israeli officials acknowledge is intended to hinder the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Expansion of Israeli Settlements in the West Bank

Or Meir is located at the end of a dirt track leading up from Road 60, a major route through the West Bank. Over time, similar small settlements have grown into larger Israeli housing developments.

The expansion process has been marked by violence. A Bedouin family reported being driven off their land near Or Meir last year by attackers who threw Molotov cocktails. They currently fear returning to the area.
