A nationwide initiative to promote healthy habits will be rolled out in preschools in phases starting in January, reaching an estimated 1,800 preschools by the end of the year. The program, developed by the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Social and Family Development, aims to establish healthy behaviors early in life.

Preschool Health Initiative Rollout

The initiative was initially piloted in six preschools in July 2025, impacting approximately 840 students. Parents and preschool operators provided positive feedback, which supported the decision to expand the program to all K1 and K2 children.

The ministries stated that the preschool years are a critical period for forming preferences and habits that lay the foundation for lifelong health. Research, including findings from the Growing Up in Singapore Towards healthy Outcomes study, supports the idea that healthy behaviors are best cultivated early.

Personalized health plans for students will be created based on insights from annual school health screenings and lifestyle questionnaires completed by parents. These plans will be aligned with each child’s interests and habits.

To reinforce healthy habits at home, parents will receive activity sheets to engage their children. Preschools will also be provided with a toolkit containing resources to promote healthy habits within the school environment.
