The U.S. military reports striking nearly 2,000 targets in Iran as part of a joint bombing campaign with Israel, while Iran has launched over 500 ballistic missiles and more than 2,000 drones. American forces are now focused on destroying Iranian military capabilities.

US-Israel Campaign Against Iran

The U.S. and Israel are continuing to use intense firepower against Iran. Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of U.S. Central Command, said the first 24 hours of the joint operation were nearly double the scale of the initial strikes during the 2003 U.S.-led Iraq War.

The mission involves more than 50,000 troops, 200 fighter jets, two aircraft carriers, and bombers, representing “the largest build-up by the US in the Middle East in a generation,” according to Cooper.

American forces have reportedly destroyed 17 Iranian ships, sinking the entire Iranian navy. The current focus, Cooper added, is “on shooting all the things that can shoot at us.”

The U.S. and Israel say they have targeted Iran’s air defenses, as well as hundreds of ballistic missiles, launchers, and drones.

In recent hours, Israel stated it was carrying out “a broad wave of strikes” on Iran while simultaneously attacking Hezbollah in Lebanon. Israeli air defenses have also intercepted additional missiles fired from Iran and Lebanon.
