South Korean entertainer MC Dingdong, whose real name is Heo Yong-woon, has threatened legal action against online users after a video of him physically assaulting a female livestreamer went viral.

MC Dingdong Faces Backlash Over On-Air Incident

The incident occurred during a recent livestream, referred to as an Excel broadcast, hosted by MC Dingdong. These livestreams involve performers completing viewer-requested tasks and competing for donations, which are displayed in a spreadsheet-like format.

On March 7, a female livestreamer performed a rap referencing MC Dingdong’s past legal issues, including a prior driving under the influence (DUI) charge that resulted in an 18-month prison sentence and two years of probation.

MC Dingdong reacted with visible anger, pulling on the livestreamer’s hair for several seconds before leaving the broadcast.

He later returned to apologize to both the livestreamer and his audience, stating through tears that the mention of his past legal troubles reminded him of his children and caused him to lose his temper. He explained he had been out of work for a year and a half and was attempting to rebuild his career.

Days after the clip circulated widely online, MC Dingdong addressed the situation on his Instagram account, announcing his intention to pursue both civil and criminal charges against those sharing the video and making related comments.
