Authorities detained and released a person in connection with the kidnapping of TV anchor Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, as new images of a potential suspect were released in the high-profile case. Nancy Guthrie has been missing for 11 days after being reported missing on February 1 from her home in Arizona.

Search for Nancy Guthrie Intensifies

Investigators have revealed little information about the search for the 84-year-old woman, who lives alone, until Tuesday when the FBI released photos and video of a masked person approaching her home on the night of the kidnapping.

An individual was briefly detained for questioning after the footage was released, raising hopes for a breakthrough, but was later released following a search of a linked location, according to ABC News and the New York Times.

A security camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door captured what the FBI described as an armed individual on the morning of her disappearance.

FBI Director Kash Patel posted six photographs and three videos on X showing an individual wearing gloves, a mask, and a backpack approaching Guthrie’s doorstep. A holstered gun is apparently visible on the person’s waist.

Nancy Guthrie, mother of NBC News Today co-host Savannah Guthrie, is believed to have been kidnapped from her home in Tucson on the night of January 31 or in the early hours of February 1.

Patel stated that the new images show an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.

White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said President Donald Trump had reviewed the newly released imagery during a media briefing.

The FBI has said the Guthrie family has received ransom letters with payment demands.

‘We Need Your Help’

Footage shows the individual approaching the front door, head down, wearing long pants, a zip-up jacket, hat, and gloves, and carrying a backpack. The person’s hands are seen over the camera for several seconds before stepping outside and pulling up plants, appearing to push them against the camera.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos stated the doorbell camera was disconnected at 1:47 a.m. on February 1. At 2:12 a.m., software detected a person on the camera, but no video was available.

Savannah Guthrie released a video appeal on Monday for public help in finding her mother, who suffers from heart problems and requires regular medication. “As we enter into another week of this nightmare…thank you so much for all of the prayers and the love that we have felt,” she said on Instagram.

“Law enforcement is working tirelessly around the clock trying to bring her home, trying to find where she was taken, and we don’t know where. We believe our mom is still out there. We need your help.”

Authorities believe Nancy Guthrie is still alive and that blood discovered on her doorstep belongs to her.
