/ Mark Regev, senior advisor to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Christiane Amanpour, said, “Israel intends for the Palestinians to govern themselves, but without the ability to threaten it.”

Regev added in a statement to the American CNN network: “The idea is to find a formula in which the Palestinians can govern themselves without being in a position to threaten Israel, and I believe that this is the formula that can help us move forward and find solutions that will be beneficial to the Israelis, and good.” For the Palestinians as well.”

Commenting on statements made by Netanyahu in a press conference on Thursday, in which he said that Israel “must control the security of all the lands west of the Jordan River,” Regev said that Netanyahu “said repeatedly that the Palestinians must have all the powers to govern themselves, and that “None of the forces threatens Israel,” he stressed, stressing that Israel has always given priority to security and discussed disarmament, especially after the October 7 attack.

He continued: “If the Palestinians really want to move forward with Israel, I think they have to be willing to understand these concerns. They are legitimate concerns, and the idea that any areas adjacent to Israel must secure arrangements that allow Israel to defend itself.”

It is noteworthy that in the wake of Netanyahu’s clear rejection of the establishment of a post-war Palestinian state, a source told CNN that Netanyahu made it clear to US President Joe Biden, during a phone call on Friday, that his statements were not aimed at preventing the establishment of a Palestinian state in any way.
