PLG Acquires Romanian Ticketing Platform iaBilet for Regional Expansion

The Baltic ticketing group PLG has signed an agreement to acquire the Romanian platform iaBilet, marking the company’s second ownership change in eight months. The transaction, signed May 20, 2026, involves buying out both the private equity firm Resource Partners and the company’s founders, aiming to consolidate the regional ticketing market.

A Rapid Exit for Resource Partners

The acquisition of iaBilet by the Baltic operator PLG represents a swift transition for the Romanian ticketing leader. Only eight months prior, in September 2025, the private equity fund Resource Partners had secured a majority stake in the company, alongside a 55% interest in the concert organizer BestMusic Concerts. The new agreement, signed on May 20, 2026, sees Resource Partners offloading its position entirely, a move described as a high-success exit by the acquiring group.

While the official value of the transaction has not been publicly disclosed by the companies, industry reports from Economedia suggest the deal may be worth a significant amount, potentially triple the value of the initial acquisition. Profit.ro reports that sources close to the transaction indicate it was completed at a valuation multiple of 24-25x EBITDA, a figure notably high for the local technology and services sector.

PLG’s Regional Consolidation Strategy

For PLG, the purchase is a strategic pivot to secure a dominant footprint in Central and Eastern Europe. The group, already established in the Baltic states, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia, has been aggressively expanding its Romanian presence. This acquisition follows earlier moves by PLG to integrate Bilete.ro, Entertix, and MyTicket into its portfolio.

Sven Nuutmann, founder and chairman of the board at PLG, believes that the regional market holds significant untapped potential, largely due to a pricing disparity. The average price of tickets in the region remains, at present, about twice as low as in Western and Southern Europe, Nuutmann stated. He views the integration of iaBilet as a cornerstone for building a unified technological ecosystem across the region, with plans to introduce advanced AI-driven solutions for both event organizers and ticket buyers by the end of 2026.

Operational Continuity and Leadership

Despite the change in ownership, the core leadership team at iaBilet will remain in place to steer the company through its next phase of growth. The founders, who had retained minority stakes during the Resource Partners period, are now selling their remaining shares to PLG as part of the total buyout.

This was my dream when I started iaBilet, almost 15 years ago: to be part of something big, strong, and results-oriented, so that we can conquer the world through honest, impactful services, to innovate and develop a strong group together. To play not only in the local championship, but in the Champions League. Emil Ionescu, CEO and co-founder of iaBilet

The transaction remains subject to standard closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Legal assistance for Resource Partners during the exit was provided by the law firm RTPR, with a team led by partners Alina Stăvaru and Roxana Ionescu.

Market Integration and Future Outlook

The consolidation of iaBilet is expected to streamline the ticketing landscape in Romania. By bringing the country’s major independent platforms under the PLG umbrella, the group aims to create a more efficient marketplace for promoters and consumers. According to Profit.ro, the group currently manages a volume of millions of euros in tickets annually, with millions of tickets sold and a vast number of platform visits across its regional network.

Whether this aggressive consolidation will successfully drive the sustainable growth envisioned by the PLG leadership remains the key metric for the company’s performance in the coming year.
