Cambodia is presenting itself as a strategically advantageous location for international investors, citing political stability and a resilient economy, Prime Minister Hun Manet said Monday.

Cambodia’s Economic Resilience

The country’s economy grew by 5.2 percent in 2025, and is expected to continue on a steady growth trajectory, creating opportunities for business and investment, Hun Manet stated during the Cambodia-ASEAN Business Summit 2026 on March 4.

Hun Manet vowed to eradicate online scam centers by April, further safeguarding the investment climate. He added that his administration has worked to create a secure and predictable operating environment to minimize risks and enhance investor confidence.

Business and Investment Climate Improvements

An inter-ministerial working group of over 100 members launched the “Program to Promote the Business and Investment Climate in Cambodia 2025–2028” in late January to foster a more business-friendly environment nationwide.

Kith Meng, president of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and chair of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council Cambodia, noted a shift in global perceptions of Cambodia, moving away from its post-conflict reconstruction and garment industry dependence.

Meng highlighted Cambodia’s ranking first in ASEAN in financial services in the World Bank’s Business Ready assessment, achieving a score of 84.45 out of 100. He attributed this to effective reforms and digital adoption.

The country is actively shifting toward advanced manufacturing, particularly in electronics and automotive components, supported by a $10 billion national budget in 2025 focused on modernization and economic sovereignty.

The national economy is projected to grow by 5 percent in 2026, reflecting both recovery and a structural shift toward higher value and greater resilience.

The two-day summit, themed “Transforming ASEAN: Innovation, Integration and Industrial Evolution,” brought together leaders, investors, and policymakers from across the ASEAN region.

Hun Manet acknowledged global challenges, emphasizing the need for ASEAN to reinforce regional resilience through diversified energy sources, economic integration, and strengthened crisis coordination mechanisms.
