Pre-orders are open now, with the game arriving on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
More than a decade after the original release, the iconic limbless hero is making a high-profile comeback. Co-developed by Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan, alongside support from a wide network of international associate studios including Annecy, Berlin, Bordeaux, Paris, Da Nang, Dusseldorf, Shanghai, and Pastagames, the project trades the original’s 2D hand-drawn aesthetic for a modern 3D presentation.
Rebuilding the Glade of Dreams in 3D and 2.5D Gameplay
While the game shifts to 3D visuals running on Ubisoft’s proprietary Snowdrop engine, the development teams have preserved the tight level geometry that defined the original release. Classic side-scrolling stages now play out in a 2.5D perspective, anchored by a dynamic camera that pulls back and tilts to reveal world curvature and environmental depth. Navigating the game world also sees a structural shift: players access individual stages through portals located within a grand fantasy overworld rather than jumping directly into physical paintings on a gallery wall.
Narrative and presentation receive a thorough overhaul as well. The story features an immersive new script accompanied by fully voiced cinematics—marking a franchise first. Returning voice actors David Gasman and Billy West reprise their roles, anchoring a playable roster that reunites Rayman, Globox, Barbara, Grand Minimus, and Murfy for couch cooperative play through the campaign. According to plot details released by Ubisoft, When a shadowy new villain spreads corruption through the Glade of Dreams, it’s up to Rayman, Globox, Barbara, Grand Minimus, and Murphy to embark on a journey across charming and magical worlds and rescue Teensies. Leap, glide, and punch your way through enemies, venture into a brand-new realm, and soar during epic dragon rides,
as noted on the official PlayStation blog overview.
New Content, Dragon Rides, and Expanded Editions
The experience introduces a brand-new sixth world, four rhythm-based musical stages requiring players to move in sync with soundtracks composed by Christophe Héral and Grant Kirkhope, challenging Cave of Trials scenarios, and an expanded Kung Foot Evo multiplayer mode featuring improved controls and customizable rules. Between worlds, players pilot dragon rides—forward-scrolling 3D shoot-’em-up sequences where dodging hazards, executing barrel rolls, and firing at incoming targets serve as connective tissue across the Glade of Dreams.
