Samsung officially launched its Galaxy Z8 foldable series—including the Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Ultra, and Z Flip8—on July 25, 2026. While the new devices feature upgraded hardware like the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, global prices for the lineup are significantly higher than those in Samsung’s home market of Korea.
Global Pricing Disparities for the Galaxy Z8 Series
Samsung’s global rollout of the Galaxy Z8 series has highlighted a stark contrast in pricing strategies between international markets and the company’s home base. While the flagship Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra with 256GB of storage is priced at $2,099 in the U.S. and 2,199 euros ($2,509.5) in Europe, the same device retails for 2.58 million won ($1,743) in Korea. According to The Korea Times, these international prices are 20.4 percent and 44 percent higher, respectively, than the Korean launch price.
The price gap remains pronounced for the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8. In Korea, the 256GB model is available for $1,541, compared to $1,899 in the U.S.—an increase of 23.2 percent—and $2,280.95 in Europe, which marks a 48 percent premium. Samsung Electronics co-CEO TM Roh attributed the company’s ability to maintain lower domestic prices to the strategic importance of the Korean market, which he described as the foundation for strengthening the Galaxy brand’s global competitiveness.
Hardware Upgrades and the New Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra
The headline of the new lineup is the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which serves as the successor to the previous Z Fold 7. Mashable reports that the device features a 5,000mAh battery, a notable improvement over the 4,400mAh cell found in its predecessor.
Samsung Global Newsroom confirms that the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 has been redesigned with a wider 10:16 cover screen for easier interaction, while the device itself weighs 201 grams.
Market Strategy and Future Outlook
During the launch in London, TM Roh addressed the mounting cost pressures driven by rising memory prices. He noted that while Samsung has attempted to absorb these costs through supply chain optimization and joint development, some price increases were inevitable. Once costs exceed what we can absorb, it becomes inevitable that part of the increase is reflected in launch prices,
Roh said, per The Korea Times.

Despite these pressures, Samsung is expanding its foldable footprint. The company now offers three distinct models—the Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Z Flip 8—to cater to diverse consumer needs. Roh expressed confidence in the current market trajectory, stating, Foldables are reaching maturity both technologically and commercially.
Availability and Regional Retail Updates
Pre-orders for the new lineup are currently live in multiple regions. In the UK, Gsmarena reports that deliveries for the Z8 series and the newly announced Galaxy Watch9 and Watch Ultra2 are scheduled to begin on August 3. Customers in the UK may also receive £30 off if they bundle the new smartwatches with Galaxy Buds4 or Buds4 Pro TWS.

In India, Thewire notes that Reliance Digital has opened pre-orders with EMI options starting at ₹6,000 per month. The Indian release includes the same trio of foldables, with the Z Fold 8 Ultra featuring an 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display and a 200MP main camera system.
“As AI becomes more agentic, mobile devices will become the most personal entry point to experiences that understand and adapt to each user.”
