Suspect Cole Allen in custody after shots fired at White House Correspondents’ Dinner

Adversarial voices quickly disseminated anti-American propaganda across global messaging channels following reports of a shooting at the Washington Hilton Hotel during the White House Correspondents Dinner.

Within minutes of the reports, members of a Telegram channel called “ResistanceTrench” began framing the event as a catalyst for domestic conflict. One user expressed support for the incident, stating, “Let’s goo civil war time,” while another questioned if the event represented the “first shots of the revolution.”

Another user claimed the shooting was evidence of a coming civil war, suggesting that while authorities might blame Iran, the event was part of a broader trend of instability in the United States.

Digital Weaponization of Domestic Crisis

The rapid cascade of posts illustrates how loosely networked actors and ideological adversaries weaponize domestic crises to define narratives before facts are established. These communications often amplify themes of instability, distrust, and the inevitability of conflict.

Some users on the Telegram channel mocked the unfolding situation in real time, including the Secret Service’s efforts to remove President Donald Trump from the room. Others dismissed the incident entirely, describing it as a “fake soap opera.”

The discourse quickly shifted toward geopolitical and anti-Israel rhetoric. One user predicted that “Zionist accusations” would soon claim Iran was behind the shooting, while another joked that the shooter’s shirt would read “Strait outta hormuz.”

Additional posts featured derision toward those evacuating the hotel, calling them “cowards,” and claimed that Erica Kirk was seen crying while leaving the scene.

Domestically, leftists shared video footage of the chaos, including a livestream from Marxist influencer Hasan Piker reacting to the reports of shots fired.
