First Medvedev, then Federer and now Alexander Zverev: The favorites are eliminated in rows at the lawn tournament in Halle.
the essentials in brief
- Alexander Zverev surprisingly fails to Ugo Humbert and is eliminated in the second round.
- Roger Federer already failed during the week.
Germany’s currently best tennis professional surprisingly lost his round of 16 at the lawn tournament in Halle and was eliminated as the next favorite. Alexander Zverev lost 6: 7 (4: 7), 6: 3 and 3: 6 against the French Ugo Humbert.
Ten-time tournament winner Roger Federer had to face the 24-year-old from Hamburg. And the number one Russian Daniil Medvedev to leave early during the week. The only German professional in the quarter-finals is Philipp Kohlschreiber.
In the first round, Zverev had defeated his Davis Cup colleague Dominik Koepfer after three arduous sets. But against the 22-year-old Humbert, Zverev acted too often too passively and made too many mistakes from the baseline.
