Nordic countries continue to dominate global happiness rankings, with Finland, Iceland, and Denmark securing the top three spots in the annual World Happiness Report. Costa Rica rose to fourth place, becoming the first Latin American country to enter the top five.

Across the Asia-Pacific region, New Zealand and Australia performed strongly, ranking 11th and 15th respectively. Taiwan led Asia at 26th, followed by Singapore (36th) and Vietnam (45th) among the global top 50.

Hong Kong continued a downward trend, slipping to 90th this year.

The report highlighted the growing impact of social media on happiness and wellbeing, particularly among young people. High levels of internet use correlate with lower life satisfaction, especially among girls and in the UK and Ireland.

However, the report also noted that internet use can support wellbeing by fostering trust, perceived social activity, and social connection.
