Singapore authorities arrested a 29-year-old woman for suspected drug trafficking offenses after seizing narcotics valued at more than S$94,900 (RM301,000), according to the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB).
Drug Seizure in Singapore
The seized drugs included approximately 7,144g of cannabis, which CNB stated could sustain the addiction of 1,110 abusers for a week. Other substances recovered included 169g of Ice (methamphetamine), 9g of ketamine, 30g of Ecstasy, and 30 Erimin-5 tablets, along with drug paraphernalia.
The woman was arrested at a condominium unit in West Coast Way. CNB officers were forced to enter the room as the suspect refused to grant access.
In a separate incident on Jan. 3, authorities discovered 509kg of cannabis within an inbound container at the Pasir Panjang Scanning Station. The container was flagged for inspection based on information from Singapore Customs and a risk assessment by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority’s Integrated Targeting Centre.
Preliminary investigations indicate the cannabis shipment was in transit through Singapore and destined for another country. Investigations into both cases are ongoing.
If convicted of trafficking more than 500g of cannabis, the suspect faces the mandatory death penalty.
