Authorities are searching for a young person who escaped from a Canterbury youth justice residence on Saturday. The individual absconded from Te Puna Wai o Tuhinapo in Rolleston, and both Oranga Tamariki and police are working together to locate them.
Escaped Youth Justice Resident
Te Puna Wai o Tuhinapo houses people aged between 14 and 17 who are facing serious charges or have been sentenced by the Youth Court. Police were earlier making inquiries to find the youth after they were reported missing Saturday morning.
Oranga Tamariki deputy chief executive of youth justice services and residential care, Dean Winter, confirmed the agency is assisting police in the search.
