Young & Restless has delivered a clear signal that Adam Newman is headed for a spiral, with Sally Spectra and Billy Abbott’s marriage in the crosshairs.
Adam Newman Heading for a Dangerous Spiral
For months, we have anticipated that Young & Restless intended to reunite the former flames, and everything has proceeded right on schedule so far. The heavy-handed clues unmistakably point toward an impending romantic upheaval. It might take time, but it feels inevitable.
To state the obvious, the reformed bad guy is Adam, and the doomed romance belongs to “Chadam”. Young & Restless bent over backwards to put Sally’s ex at her nuptials and arrange for him to be alone with her right in time to assist with her delivery. While it’s easy to write that off as a nod to “Ally” fans who felt robbed when Adam and Sally’s daughter, Ava, was stillborn, it’s clear there’s a lot more to the controversial plot twist than that.
The look on Adam’s face when Tuesday’s installment concluded signaled precisely where this plot arc is leading. He has plainly reached a breaking point where he can no longer suppress his lingering affection for Sally and their deceased baby.
Chelsea and Billy Caught in the Fallout
Although Chelsea showed immense patience when feelings bubbled up for Adam during Sally’s pregnancy, dynamic tensions are bound to escalate between them if Adam’s downward spiral keeps pulling him toward Sally and her infant. With Young & Restless having conveniently arranged a solid pretext for Billy to depart while Jill battles for survival in London, alongside Connor being sent away, the stage is fully set for that outcome.

Taking into account Ashley’s gloomy outlook regarding the “Silly” union and her stark warnings about how poorly Billy will cope with marital obstacles, even a casual viewer can easily predict the ultimate trajectory. There is no bigger marital problem that Billy could possibly encounter than his nemesis, Adam, after all.
The Future of Ally and Chadam
We know, we know, Sally and Billy just got married. Ultimately, the controversial narrative choice by Young & Restless featuring Adam delivering his ex-partner’s child, combined with Ashley’s intuition concerning Billy’s destiny, strongly hints that the program may abandon “Chadam” in favor of an eventual “Ally” comeback.
