Dallas residents have one last chance to experience winter weather before a warming trend brings temperatures into the 60s and 70s for the New Year’s holiday.
Tuesday Forecast
Skies cleared Monday night, allowing temperatures to drop as winds remained light. Tuesday morning will be cold, but temperatures are expected to recover quickly with plenty of sunshine and dry air.
The Dallas-Fort Worth area will remain a few degrees below average on Tuesday, but conditions should be pleasant. The remaining cold air will dissipate Tuesday night under clear skies and light winds.
New Year’s Eve Forecast
A warming trend will begin Wednesday, rapidly turning temperatures mild with sunshine pushing afternoon highs into the 60s. New Year’s Eve will be clear, with temperatures cooling to near 50 degrees by midnight.
7-Day Forecast
Cloud cover will increase Thursday with temperatures in the 60s. Some areas could reach the 70s if the clouds clear early.
Clouds will exit Friday morning as a cold front moves through the region. Despite a shifting north wind, the afternoon won’t feel particularly cool due to the mild air mass. If the front is delayed, highs could reach the 70s.
Saturday will be cooler following the front’s passage, but with highs in the 60s. Evan Andrews reports that most of the nation’s true cold air will be contained in the Great Lakes and the Northeast. Northwest winds aloft will keep skies mainly sunny and pleasant.
Weekend temperatures will climb back into the 70s and remain warm into early next week as Gulf moisture returns. Temperatures may even approach 80 degrees again. While rain is possible, a major storm system is not expected to reach Texas until the middle or end of next week.
