Advisor to the Prime Minister for Youth and Sports Affairs, Khaled Kabayan, confirmed that Iraq will host three international tournaments during the current year 2024, announcing the Prime Minister’s approval to allocate funds to hold them.
Kabayan said in a statement to the (INA): “Iraq has been granted the right to host three important tournaments during the current year 2024, which are the Asian Arch and Arrow Championship, as well as hosting the West Asian Athletics Championship competitions in Baghdad, in addition to hosting the Arab Basketball Championship.” Stating that “the dates of the tournaments will be determined in coordination between the relevant local and international federations.”
He added, “These three tournaments are directly sponsored by the Iraqi government, represented by Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani,” noting that “the Prime Minister agreed to allocate funds to hold these three tournaments.”
