Veteran combat star Brock Lesnar officially announced his retirement from professional wrestling on Tuesday. Making the announcement on The Pat McAfee Show, the 49-year-old athlete confirmed his exit from the squared circle following a brutal Hell in a Cell match at WWE SummerSlam.

The retirement decision follows a brutal trilogy against Oba Femi. The two competitors entered SummerSlam tied in their series before the Ruler came out on top over the Beast Incarnate in a physical Hell in a Cell encounter. Lesnar executed numerous high-impact moves, including a Tombstone Piledriver onto the exposed ring canvas, but Femi kicked out and ultimately secured the victory with a Fall From Grace.
Lesnar revealed that his retirement was initially contemplated much earlier. When Oba Femi slammed me at WrestleMania, Lesnar recalled, he briefly thought he was done. Although he returned for two additional matches, including a final victory in Italy before the SummerSlam finale, Saturday marked his final appearance.
“When Oba Femi slammed me at WrestleMania, I thought, ‘I can’t do this again. I think I’m done.’ But, I feel like I still had some fuel in the tank. But Saturday, that’s it for Brock Lesnar. That’s it for me in the squared circle, and everywhere else, too.”

Concluding his remarks on The Pat McAfee Show, Lesnar directed advice toward younger athletes, warning against shortcuts in the modern era of athletics.
“I want to say to the little kids, I was just a farm kid with lint in my pocket. I had big dreams, and I just worked. A lot of people nowadays with social media platforms helping athletes, they leave out the hard work. If kids stay focused on work and putting the time in, good things will happen.”
