Today, Monday, the Federal Integrity Commission announced that it had detected an overstatement of $33 million in two contracts for the Dhi Qar Oil Company.

A statement by the Authority, received by the (INA), stated that “the work team of the Dhi Qar Investigation Office was able to uncover an exaggeration in the estimated cost of the contract for the project to construct and maintain the Gharraf oil field warehouses,” indicating that “the contract was concluded by the company with an Emirati company in the amount of (27,000,000) Dollars, even though the estimated cost of the project does not exceed $12,000,000.”
He added that “the team noticed an exaggeration amounting to (18,000,000) million dollars in the contract for supplying oil pipes and casings for the Al-Gharraf field concluded between the Dhi Qar Oil Company and a Malaysian company,” noting that “the company’s purchasing committee wasted an amount of (37,795,000) dinars, in the process of purchasing equipment.” Photocopying, printing presses, printers, and archive equipment from a private company from the local markets at double prices, in addition to an exaggeration of approximately (52,000,000) dinars in purchasing a medical waste incinerator and three basins.”
He continued, “The team revealed a waste of public money in equipping an electric generation station for the benefit of the Or General Company in the amount of $2,000,000 and not putting it into service, despite more than ten years having passed since it was received.” He pointed out that “the priorities for purchasing furniture for the office of the director of a power station were set.” He priced the vehicle belonging to the General Directorate of Electrical Energy Production in the Southern Region at an amount of (99,000,000) dinars, due to an exaggeration in prices, and at the Nasiriyah Thermal Power Station,” confirming that “there were violations of the technical specifications in the process of purchasing (100) reverse osmosis cells for an amount of (70,000,000) dinars.” “.
