Several Metro Manila universities shifted to online classes or remote learning arrangements on Thursday as transport groups continued their strike for a second consecutive day.

The disruptions were triggered by protests from Manibela and other transport organizations over high fuel prices and what they described as insufficient government relief.

Schools Adopting Remote Learning

A number of institutions implemented immediate adjustments for Thursday. These include the Technological University of the Philippines-Manila (remote synchronous learning), University of the East-Caloocan (online classes), and the FEU Institute of Technology (tertiary classes in online synchronous mode).

At FEU Diliman, tertiary classes have moved online, while basic education classes continue, though affected students may be excused at the discretion of their advisers.

The University of Santo Tomas has adopted an enriched virtual mode from April 16 to 17.

Extended Online Class Schedules

Several other institutions have implemented online arrangements spanning April 15 to 17, including the Philippine College of Criminology, Lyceum of the Philippines University Manila, and Trinity University of Asia.

Centro Escolar University-Manila has moved to a full online mode for the same period, while Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Manila and the Technological Institute of the Philippines have shifted to online synchronous classes for all levels.

The Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Sta. Mesa has also shifted to online classes from April 15 to 17, with some exceptions, including the College of Law.

Additionally, Adamson University has implemented online synchronous classes from April 15 to 18.

The strike, centered in Philcoa, Quezon City, and other areas of Metro Manila, prompted these academic shifts to ensure the safety and accessibility of students and personnel affected by the transport disruption.
