Thiruvananthapuram: The long distance train service which was halted due to the second wave of Kovid will be resumed. Southern Railway from tomorrow
Starting services. Ticket reservation for Intercity and Janshatabdi trains operating in Kerala has started on Wednesday. Southern Railway has announced that full services will start this week.
Railways may also announce the launch of more long-distance trains. Railways had suspended some train services in the state due to low passenger numbers following the intensification of the second wave of Kovid.
In the first phase, the Railways canceled 30 services ahead of the lockdown. But some long-distance service continued. The decision to resume services comes in the wake of easing of lockdown restrictions.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had yesterday said that the lockdown system in the state would be changed.
He said the lockdown would last until June 16 and in the coming days there would be plans to carry out local preventive measures depending on the spread of the disease.
‘The lockdown will last till June 16 in the state and the lockdown pattern will change in the coming days. Similar controls and testing methods are implemented across the state. Instead, it intends to impose restrictions on the extent of the spread of the disease.
In view of the new situation, the local bodies will be categorized according to the extent of the spread of the disease and preventive measures will be taken, ‘said the Chief Minister.
