Today, Friday, the General Company for Foodstuff Trading detailed the contents of the new marketing centers project, and while revealing their numbers and the areas in which they will be opened as a first phase, it confirmed that it will sell food and household goods at prices ranging between 20-25% lower than the market price, noting that It will provide special support for 3 categories.
The company’s general manager, Lama Al-Moussawi, told the (INA): “The Ministry of Commerce is preparing to open 15 marketing centers, 7 of which are in the capital, Baghdad, to sell all foodstuffs and household goods at competitive prices that are lower than market prices by a rate ranging between 20-25%, and it will be Among them is a marketing complex that will open before the month of Ramadan in the Al-Dabash area in the Al-Hurriya neighborhood in the capital, Baghdad.
She added, “These centers will be in partnership with the private sector and will complement the step of the marketing outlets that opened this year and are more comprehensive and spacious, as some of the outlets will be transformed under this project into shopping centers with high-quality technologies and goods, while the remaining outlets will remain operating with their well-known mechanisms.”
She continued, “The project will also include 3 categories with special price support, namely those covered by social care, people of determination, and families of martyrs, on the basis of which materials will be sold to them at lower prices.”
She pointed out that “the project will start with 15 centers, 7 of which will begin as a first phase in the areas of Al-Hurriyah, Housing, and Al-Amel neighborhood, next to Al-Karkh, Al-Sadr City, Jamila, and Al-Mashtal, as well as the Al-Rusafa sales center affiliated with the General Company for Foodstuff Trade. Then the project will expand and open a larger number of centers in Baghdad and all the governorates.” Within the ministry’s plan for next year 2024.”
Regarding the possibility of causing harm to food merchants due to the reductions in the project, Al-Moussawi confirmed, “The government took care not to harm the real food merchants who follow official methods of importing by entering the transfer platform, and they naturally import materials at prices that provide them with a good profit margin, especially since they buy the dollar.” At the official price of 1,320 dinars.
She explained, “Using sprinklers reduces the burden of the farmer through the irrigation process.”
