Today, Friday, the Minister of Health, Saleh Al-Hasnawi, announced partnership projects with Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iran, and China, and major steps to achieve pharmaceutical security in Iraq. While he referred to the agreement with the Minister of Industry and Minerals, Khaled Battal Al-Najm, to establish the pharmaceutical industrial city in Yusufiyah, he revealed that Private sector requests to establish new pharmaceutical factories: 40 requests.

Al-Hasnawi told the (INA): “The Ministry has about 5 partnership projects, one of these projects between two Iraqi and Saudi companies for medical supplies, in addition to an Iraqi partnership with two Egyptian companies, and another with an Iranian company,” stressing that “the doors are open.” The most recent one was for a development company with one of the very advanced research centers in China.”
He added, “Everything provided to the private sector is considered support by the state, as large, unprecedented facilities have been provided even in neighboring countries,” stressing that “the entire Council of Ministers is in the service of the national industry in general, and the pharmaceutical industry in particular.”
He pointed out that “a meeting was held two days ago, with the Minister of Industry, the management of the Samarra Pharmaceutical Factory, and the General Director of Industrial Cities at the Ministry of Health Center, and it was agreed to establish the pharmaceutical industrial city in Yusufiyah, which represents a partnership in land ownership between the Ministries of Health and Industry, in addition to To support the Samarra factory and support national factories in the private sector.”
He stressed that “the private sector is very cooperative, and has so far submitted more than 40 requests to establish a new factory in Iraq,” pointing out that “for the first time in Iraq there is a factory that produces medical devices, in addition to factories that have begun to produce medical supplies (surgical sutures, syringes), In addition to a total of 282 pharmaceutical orphans produced nationally.”
He continued, “This is a big step towards achieving pharmaceutical security, as pharmaceutical security cannot be achieved in any country in the world except through the localization of the industry,” stressing that “part of achieving pharmaceutical security is encouraging the national industry, and this falls on the responsibility of the media and marketing (making In Iraq) whether in medicines, medical supplies or other industries.”
