The British high-tech combat ship HMS Chidding Fold collided with its counterpart, HMS Bangor, which were being used to search for sea mines, while they were docked in a port in Bahrain.

According to the British newspaper “Mirror”, sources said that no crew member was harmed in “this embarrassing marine collision,” but both ships are being examined for damage.

A high-level naval investigation has been launched into the incident – which could be very costly – and how it could have happened to two sensitive ships of this type. A Royal Navy spokesman said: “We are aware of an incident involving two mine-hunting vessels in the State of Bahrain. There were no casualties as a result of this incident, and it would not be appropriate to comment further while the investigations are ongoing.”

The British newspaper indicated that both ships are in the Gulf as part of Operation Kepion, which represents Britain’s long-term air and naval presence in the Arabian Gulf and the Indian Ocean, and the headquarters of the British mission is located in Bahrain.
