A potash mine in northeastern Spain collapsed, trapping three miners.
Miners were trapped 900 meters underground when one of the mine shafts in Syria, 80 kilometers northwest of Barcelona, collapsed just before 9 am local time on the 9th.
Interior Minister Joan Inassi Elena told a news conference that while the fate of the workers could not be ascertained at this time, they feared the worst.
Local media outlets reported that the miners had died, citing sources from the rescue authorities, but the local police said that it was possible to confirm only after the rescue operation was completed, AFP reported.
In December 2013, a shaft collapsed in this mine, killing two workers.
