On Saturday, 10,908 new coronavirus infections were reported in Austria in a 24-hour comparison (as of July 23, 2022, 9:30 a.m.).

1,511 patients were in the hospital on Saturday due to a corona infection, 15 more than yesterday. 81 people were cared for in intensive care units – this number has increased by one person since Friday and has remained the same within a week. There have been 15 Covid-related deaths since yesterday. As of Saturday 9:30 a.m., 10,908 new infections have been reported in the past 24 hours. This is below the average of the last seven days (11,523).

10,908 new corona infections on Saturday – more hospital patients

The seven-day incidence was 898.2 cases per 100,000 population. As of Saturday, there were 12,8478 active cases in Austria, down 233 from the day before. 4,680,148 cases have been confirmed since the pandemic began. 4,532,678 people have recovered since the outbreak of the epidemic, and 11,126 were considered healthy again within the past 24 hours.

62 deaths have been registered in the past seven days. Overall, the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 18,992 lives in Austria since it broke out. 211.5 people per 100,000 inhabitants have died from or with Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic.

More than 72,000 PCR tests in the past 24 hours

In the past 24 hours, 72,159 meaningful PCR tests have been registered. The positive rate of the PCR tests was 15.1 percent. This 24-hour value is above the average for the past week (an average of eleven percent of the PCR tests positive). 3,877 vaccinations were carried out on Friday: 184 first, 340 second and 3,353 third bites.

The federal state with the highest seven-day incidence is currently Vienna with 1,303, followed by Lower Austria, Burgenland and Upper Austria (968.9, 849.1 and 774.5 respectively). Salzburg (767.4), Vorarlberg (752), Carinthia (705.3), Styria (700.8) and Tyrol (620.1) follow.
