Bank robbers are being chased by the police after a car has fallen through a Santander in Bootle.

At around 8:40 pm on Friday, officers were called to Stanley Road to report that a bank had been robbed.

It is believed that a car called a Mazda sedan was driven into the branch of the branch and smashed through the door.

The robbers then entered the bank by forcing the doors before they stole a cash register with a lot of money and fled in the silver car.

A spokesman for the Merseyside police said, "The car is believed to have driven towards Stanley Road towards the city center and then turns right off Merton Grove in front of Gala Bingo Hall.

At about 9 pm, there was a car at Eldon Place that was probably involved in the incident.

"However, the offenders are currently pending."
