Freiburg. Before the DFB Cup final, SC Freiburg bans the use of its logo on fan merchandise shared with opponents RB Leipzig. This was confirmed by a spokesman for the association of the German Press Agency on Sunday. The Bundesliga club did not give a reason. In addition, the opponent was forbidden to use the club’s coat of arms. The final will take place on May 21st in Berlin’s Olympic Stadium. Participation is Freiburg’s biggest success in the cup competition so far.
On the Instagram page of the Freiburg online magazine Nordtribüne.org for fans it says: “No common ground with the construct”. As early as March 2016, the Ultra group Corrillo expressed their displeasure with the Saxon club when they met Leipzig in the 2nd Bundesliga.
RB Leipzig has been repeatedly criticized by opposing fans since its inception. The Saxons are accused, among other things, that the club is only so successful thanks to the investments of the drinks billionaire Dietrich Mateschitz and ultimately only serves as a marketing tool.
