Blood donations impacted by recent fuel shortage. A situation that is not new for the EFS which regularly has to deal with the cancellation of many appointments due to current events: holidays, strikes or even weather. “In these times of reduced attendance, the EFS cannot count on its reserves for too long because blood products have a short lifespan. We need to collect 10,000 donations every day”, explains Hervé Meinrad, Director of Collection and Production at the EFS. Even if the situation on the petrol front is gradually improving, the postponement or cancellation of many holidaymakers has caused a second impact on collections in the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur region. Note that all donations are useful even if O groups are particularly sought after.
