The objective of this initiative organized by Eurocaja Rural, whose motto chosen this year has been “Donate Blood. Give Life» is to make society aware of the importance of donating blood, because it is not something that can be manufactured, to make donation a habit and show the way to new donors.
The president of Eurocaja Rural, Javier López, and its general manager, Víctor Manuel Martín, will be supporting the donations made during the day, which will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will last until 9:00 p.m. at the Palacio de Congresses of Toledo.
Eurocaja Rural will add one more edition to this activity involving all its workers through its Department of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). “We are always willing to cooperate with great involvement, will and sensitivity in everything possible to get the maximum number of blood bags extracted” emphasizes the president of the entity.
During the celebration of this day, the attendance and participation of numerous institutional and social representatives, as well as anonymous citizen support, is expected to exceed the figures of previous years. The basic requirements for interested donors are as follows: be between 18 and 65 years old, weigh at least 50 kilos, don’t make the donation while fasting, and pass a medical and analytical examination. The blood that is collected is vital. With each bag you can contribute to saving three lives. Once it has been donated, the blood has an expiration date of 42 days.
Last year nearly 200 bags of blood were provided thanks to donors, highlighting the data relating to the 39 people who made a donation for the first time, since the incorporation of new donors is essential. The extractions from the Marathon were used to meet the reserves of the Toledo Regional Transfusion Center, which supplied them, in turn, to the health centers in its hemotherapy area: Toledo, Talavera de la Reina and Guadalajara.
