Suara.com – President Joko Widodo or Jokowi has officially extended the implementation of the Emergency Community Activity Restrictions or PPKM until July 25, 2021. The consideration is that the transmission rate of the corona virus in Indonesia is still high.
President Jokowi announced the extension of the Emergency PPKM period right on Eid al-Adha, or Tuesday (20/7/2021) yesterday.
After the announcement, Jokowi stated that the government would allocate social protection programs during the Emergency PPKM period. The total budget allocated is Rp 55.21 trillion.
“The government has allocated Rp 55.21 trillion for social protection which is intended as assistance for affected communities,” said Jokowi.

So what kind of assistance will the government provide during the Emergency PPKM period? There are at least six programs, here are the details?
- Cash assistance
- Food assistance
- Internet quota assistance
- Electricity subsidy
- Incentive for informal micro-enterprises worth IDR 1.2 million per actor
- Micro business incentive IDR 1 million per actor
Jokowi said the aid would be distributed soon.
“I have ordered the relevant ministers to immediately distribute the social assistance to eligible citizens,” said Jokowi.
Jokowi further explained that the government will continue to evaluate its implementation in the field. If the Covid-19 case starts to be controlled, it is not impossible that the Emergency PPKM can be relaxed on July 26, 2021.
“Therefore, if the trend of cases continues to decline, then on July 26, 2021, the government will conduct a gradual opening,” said Jokowi.

Apart from Java and Bali, Emergency PPKM was also implemented in 15 cities outside Java-Bali, including; Pontianak City, Singkawang City, Balikpapan City, Bontang City, Berau, Batam City, Tanjung Pinang City, Bandar Lampung City, Mataram City, Sorong City, Manokwari, Bukittinggi City, Padang City, Padang Panjang City, and Medan City.
It is known, as of Tuesday (20/7/2021) afternoon at 12.00 WIB, the Covid-19 pandemic has infected 2,950,058 Indonesians, now there are 550,192 active cases, 2,323,666 people have been declared cured, and 76,200 people have died.
