In the French port city, police and fire departments are searching for possible victims in the rubble of two collapsed houses. At least two people were injured.
In downtown Marseille, two multi-storey buildings collapsed. "We are looking for possible victims," said firefighters to news channel Franceinfo. According to the AFP news agency, at least two people were injured in the Monday morning accident. The Prefecture of the region posted on Twitter photos showing rubble and wooden beams, apparently from the collapsed buildings. There is a gap in a row of houses, parked cars are covered with dust and debris.
As reported by Franceinfo, citing the mayor of the district concerned, at least one of the two buildings was not occupied because it was dilapidated. The fire brigade was called to the scene of the accident around nine o'clock in the morning. Also search dogs were in use.
