Health among the three “emergencies” of Elisabeth Borne’s government

Health as well as purchasing power and the climate are the three “emergencies” which the Government must tackle, indicated Elisabeth Borne on Friday 27 May.

After a big meeting at Matignon on Friday May 27 with all her ministers, the Prime Minister announced that she had set three main priorities “urgent” for the start of the five-year term. In addition to the climate and purchasing power, Elisabeth Borne has thus decided to include health as a priority project for her Government. “The first weeks of our action must be devoted to responding to the emergencies of the French”, she assured. While the medical community is facing a shortage of personnel, she also assured, at the end of the meeting at Matignon, that she had asked the “concerned ministers” of him “to make proposals very quickly to take effective measures for the summer”.

“We agreed that there should be neither forgotten nor blind spots. In addition to retirees, employees, self-employed, public officials, I asked my ministers to pay particular attention to students”, continued Elisabeth Borne. On the move in Calvados, where she is a candidate in the 6e constituency for the legislative elections, a few hours later, she also once again hammered home the importance of the subject of purchasing power: “The first text that the deputies will have to vote on is a text to continue to contain this surge in energy prices”, she confirmed during a meeting with business leaders, associations and elected officials in Condé-en-Normandie. “The bill that will be on top of the pile is specifically aimed at extending (the) tariff shield,” she added, in response to a business leader who feared a “recession next year”.

Traveling in the Loire in support of young legislative candidates, the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, indicated that there would also be “the maintenance of the 18 cents of aid for the price of fuel” as well as “indexing measures” for retirement pensions and social benefits. “We are working on other complementary measures to have the most effective text possible to protect our compatriots against inflation”, he insisted. Furthermore, the Head of Government said she wanted to lead the “worksite” ecological planning “fast walking”, calling on all ministries to “mobilize” et “to participate”. “But these emergency projects obviously do not exhaust the action of the Government”, noted Elisabeth Borne, who gave “three watchwords: speed, efficiency and results”.

In order to follow up on these roadmaps, she announced that a government seminar would take place “before the end of June” around Emmanuel Macron. And that she herself would bring together the ministers “in the same format” every month at Matignon.
