Isère: the State ordered to compensate one of the victims of a pedophile teacher

The State was condemned for failure by the administrative court of Grenoble. He will have to compensate a victim of a pedophile teacher from Isère, now deceased. The man was prosecuted for suspicion of sexual abuse and rape of around fifty children, between 2003 and 2014.

“Absence de communication”

According to the text revealed by The Parisian and relayed by other media such as Le Figarothe decision handed down on July 7 highlights a “lack of communication between the State services (which) did not allow the competent rectorate to take the necessary measures for the protection of minors placed under the authority of the teacher”.

In 2008, the teacher in question, Romain Farina, had been sentenced for concealment of child pornography. However, the floor of Bourgoin Jallieu had not forwarded the sentence to the rectorate of the academy of Grenoble. Also, the teacher had not been registered in the file of sex offenders.

He committed suicide

Romain Farina would then have continued to sexually abuse and rape dozens of children for several years, while he was assigned to schools in the Rhône and of theIsere. But indicted and imprisoned in March 2015, he killed himself in his cell. A dismissal order had been issued by the courts because of ‘the extinction of the public action’.

The State has 2 months to appeal this conviction for default.
