José Domingo Dueñas directs the new Center for Research in Educational Sciences at the University of Zaragoza

The Huesca campus professor José Domingo Dueñas is the first director of the new Center for Innovation, Training and Research in Educational Sciences (Cifice) of the University of Zaragoza. This teacher in Didactics of Literature, a specialist in Ramón J. Sender, among other 20th century Aragonese authors, and a student of children’s and young people’s literature, will be in charge, for four years, of launch this new university structure whose aims are to promote research and knowledge transfer in the educational field as well as training and teaching quality in higher education.

This center assumes, on the one hand, the tasks aimed at the training of university teachers for teaching and those of support to the Unizar student body -with tutoring programs, among other initiatives- that it had already been carrying out the Institute of Education Sciences. From this, which celebrated its 50 years of experience, last February, it inherits the facilities and the team of professionals that make it up.

In addition, it will develop two other lines of action: promoting relationships and collaborations with other educational entities and promoting research in this field. A dozen research groups related to education -which group 200 researchers- are already participating in the Cifice activity, explains the new director -and, until last January, vice-rector of the Huesca campus-, José Domingo Dueñas.

The new manager intends expand the scope of work promoting collaborations between specialists in the educational field with those of other disciplines -in addition to independent projects of the latter- to promote studies in areas such as Law and Education or Economics and Education, among others. It also aims to promote research and experiences in fields such as digital education – with demands made especially strongly by the circumstances of the last two years – or around the pedagogical needs of a university education in transformation.

This professor from the Faculty of Human Sciences and Education, who will count as members of his management team to develop these tasks with Inés Escario and Jacobo Cano, teachers of the Faculty of Social and Labor Sciences and the Faculty of Education of Zaragoza , I’ll set it up a new program of institutional relations with related entities, which has already started.

The continuous training program for teachers at the University of Zaragoza is another of the lines in which they are working. Virtual teaching, digital tools and didactic procedures for them they take center stage in this course in the catalog of proposals that are going to be offered, as a result of the demands made by teachers, he explains, along with other pedagogical proposals. Initiatives to support the integration or learning of students, such as the Tutor or Mentor programs, are other actions underway. And next to them the necessary work to the development of the new center which, among other initiatives, will soon have its new website among other online resources.
