During the first quarter of this year, 163 minors were murdered in the country, with boys occupying the first place with 131 cases, followed by 32 crimes committed against girls, according to reports from the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, reported that 874 children, girls and adolescents died violently this year in Colombia.
Within this report, 115 homicides were in the age range of 15 and 17 years, however, there were also figures of 11 violent deaths among minors between 10 and 14 years of age, and in three incidents the victims were aged 0 and 4 years old.
Between the months of January and March, nine violent deaths per day of children and young people were recorded, in turn, these crimes are attributed to family members, friends, strangers, illegal armed groups and common criminals.
The means of transport in which the most deaths of minors were recorded was motorcycles, leaving a total of 57 cases, 40 boys and 17 girls.
It is worth mentioning that 109 children died due to traffic accidents on both rural and urban roads in different areas of the country, 107 people who were between 0 and 17 years of age, died due to accidents in homes or due to falls.
