In the capital, more than 1.4 thousand people became donors of blood plasma, which is used to treat patients with coronavirus infection. This was stated by the vice mayor of the city Anastasia Rakova, reports TASS.

“In the capital, 1,451 people after the disease had donated plasma, more than 160 donors came again and donated for the second, third and even fourth time,” she said.

Rakova asked everyone who was cured of coronavirus to help those still in hospitals. Before donating plasma, donors undergo examinations and tests, including the number of antibodies. “If contraindications are not identified and the results of the determination of antibodies demonstrate their presence in sufficient quantities, the donor is invited to donate plasma,” she explained.

Plasma was used to treat patients with COVID-19 in Moscow in early April. The city authorities have established incentive payments for donors. For every 150 ml of plasma you can get 1250 rubles., For 600 ml – 5 thousand.
