“NasDem must renew and refresh its commitment,” said Hendrawan when contacted, Thursday (19/1/2023). “As long as we are still on the coalition train, it would be odd to talk about different routes and programs. Especially when making the most important decisions starting from anti-thesis choices,” he continued.
Hendrawan explained that commitment is an investment in things that are not easy to change. The intensity of the commitment is directly proportional to the degree of difficulty changing the choice.
“A person who is committed is someone who narrows down the available choices. This is the paradox of commitment put forward by Pankay Ghemawat, Professor of Strategy from Harvard University,” explained Hendrawan. He then likened commitment to entering a marriage phase that must cover various open possibilities.
“People who are married must close their eyes to other options that are open like when they are not married,” he said.
NasDem Wants to Leave Cabinet If Asked by Jokowi
PDIP asked NasDem to have political ethics by resigning from President Jokowi’s cabinet regarding the emergence of the NasDem issue and Jokowi breaking up the partnership. Deputy Chairman (Waketum) of NasDem Ahmad Ali emphasized that his party is in the cabinet because of Jokowi, so according to him no other party has the right to regulate.
“The NasDem party is in the cabinet not because of PDIP but because of Pak Jokowi. So the cabinet was formed by mutual agreement in 2019, so of course I emphasize once again, no party has the right to determine whether other political parties are inside or outside the cabinet. Because that is the authority of the President,” Ali said when contacted, Wednesday (18/1).
Ali said that NasDem would always be in Jokowi’s coalition to ensure the running of the government until the end of the 2024 term. This had been his commitment since the formation of the coalition.
However, if President Jokowi requests it, NasDem is willing to leave the cabinet. This was conveyed by NasDem’s Deputy Chairman, Ahmad Ali. “If the President wants us to leave, of course we will leave,” said Ali.
