NBA: Patrick Beverley suspended three games

Patrick Beverley has been suspended for three games by the NBA for his actions against Deandre Ayton.

With just under four minutes remaining in a game between the Lakers and the Suns, Beverley pushed Ayton in the back to send him to the ground following a foul by Devin Booker on Austin Reaves.

This is the second time Beverley has been suspended for pushing an opponent in the back. His last victim was Chris Paul in the last game of the Los Angeles Clippers playoff route in 2021. He had to miss the first game of the 2021-2022 season.

“Beverley’s record for unsportsmanlike acts weighed in the balance when it came to the length of the suspension,” the NBA said.

The Lakers are having a rough start to the season as evidenced by their 5-11 record. They will be without Beverley for their two games in San Antonio on Friday and Saturday, as well as their home game against Indiana on Monday.

Beverley will be able to return to action on Wednesday against Portland. This season, he averaged 4.1 points per game.
