The National Seismological Service reported that until 05:00 hours there have been 632 aftershocks of the earthquake that occurred in Michoacán on September 19, the highest intensity being 5.3.

Again on September 19 and 20, as in 1985

On Thursday, September 19, 1985, an earthquake shook Mexico at 07:17 hours, reaching a magnitude of 8.1 degrees.

The epicenter was located in the Pacific Ocean, near the mouth of the Balsas River, on the coast of the state of Michoacán.

So far, it is the most significant and damaging recorded in the contemporary history of the country.

The aftershock occurred a day later, on the night of September 20. It also had a huge impact on the Mexican capital, where structures and buildings softened the day before ended collapsing.

History repeated itself yesterday, September 19; Minutes after a National Simulation, an earthquake with an epicenter in Coalcocoman, Michoacán was recorded, but neither this nor the previous one, in 2017, has been as devastating as the one in 1985.

Today, September 20, two earthquakes with intensity of 4.8 and 5.9 have been recorded.

For the third time, on September 19

Once again an earthquake of great magnitude shook Mexico on September 19, on a day that has been marked by the fear of many.

The seismologist of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) explained that “the occurrence of three earthquakes of magnitude greater than 7 on September 19 is a coincidence. There is no scientific reason that explains or justifies it”; however, it is the third time it has happened in 37 years.

At 12:19 p.m. the seismic alerts sounded in the country to carry out the national drill, in memory of the earthquakes that occurred in 1985 and 2017. Forty-six minutes later, the alarms sounded again and this time they did moved the earth.

Again there were nervous breakdowns and scenes of panic not only in Mexico City, but also in various regions of Michoacán, Colima and Jalisco. According to local authorities, the preliminary toll would be two people dead and five injured.

An earthquake of magnitude 7.7 was recorded yesterday Monday at 1:05 p.m. with an epicenter 63 kilometers south of Coalcomán, Michoacán, and 15 kilometers deep, according to information from the National Seismological.
