North Korea advises people to eat swan meat to combat food shortages

North Korea is facing a food shortage crisis that authorities advise villagers to eat swan meat to solve the problem.
North Korea’s Rodong Sinmun newspaper reported that North Korean authorities have advised people to turn to black swans. It states that black swan meat is delicious and has medicinal properties. In addition, the breeding of black swans on an industrial scale will improve people’s lives.
There are also reports citing sources in North Korea that North Korea’s central bank has to print $1 cash coupons due to shortage of North Korean won banknotes. The Rimjingang website, run by North Korean defectors based in Japan, said: North Korea has been using the coupons since August due to shortages of paper and ink for printing banknotes that must be imported through China.
