Sunday, we were a year to the day after the 4-1 loss conceded at home by the RC Lens against Caen, fatal to Philippe Montanier a few days later. In the process, he had been replaced by Franck Haise, coach of the reserve.
In one year, Franck Haise has known only sporting success, between a rise after 2 matches on the bench before the interruption of competitions and a serenity acquired in Ligue 1, with the added bonus of a 5th place in the standings at this stage as well as a quality of game often recognized for his team. He is the first coach to succeed in maintaining the RC Lens in Ligue 1 since Jean-Guy Wallemme in 2009-2010 and the skeptics at the time of his appointment as well as his extension after the rise are much less numerous. The technician has always had confidence in the quality of his workforce, his resources and that of his staff: ” We reached the first mission, I live it fairly quietly. The skepticism of people who don’t know me or those who don’t know football, there’s not much I can do about it. I know who I am and I know that I am surrounded by a staff with a lot of skills. “Despite his promoted status, his team has often been able to pose problems, even to the top teams. The objective now is to succeed in lasting as long as possible at this level: “ We manage to raise a lot of concerns on technical and tactical aspects. We saw that Dijon had come up with a system to match us but Rennes, which is at the top of the standings, did it too. It gives a lot of confidence. The contents that we offer, the general investment, mean that I am not worried about the future. We work every day to improve the things we have had problems with, such as defensive transitions, attacking lower blocks with more variety… Afterwards the credit goes to the players. »
