“Number Two” of US Diplomacy Will Visit China to Lower Tensions | Politics | USA Edition

The “number two” of the State Department, Wendy Sherman, will visit China this Sunday and Monday to meet with Chinese diplomats, in what will be the highest-ranking visit so far to the Asian giant of Joe Biden’s government.

Sherman’s visit, announced Wednesday by the State Department in a statement, comes at a time of strong tension between the two powers, just days after the United States accused China of being behind the global cyberattack against Microsoft in March.
