There are 127 new infections in Hessen. Important Corona key figures are also in motion, especially with a problem child of the past few days.
Frankfurt / Main – The corona pandemic continues to ensure dynamic development in Hesse. The number of new infections rose again, but recently critical values in some municipalities fell. According to information from the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs on Friday, there is evidence that 127 other Hessians were infected with the virus (as of 2 p.m.). This means that there have been a total of 15 232 people who have contracted the virus since the beginning of the pandemic. The number of deaths associated with an infection was 530, one case higher than the previous day.
In Offenbach, the downward trend of an important Corona key figure continued. This had recently been above the critical level of 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days (7-day incidence). According to the ministry, the value was now 37.5. The city recently reacted to the critical situation with stricter restrictions. Despite the now downward trend, the measures should apply until September 6th. In Wiesbaden, the figure, which had last shown 44.9, fell slightly and, according to the Ministry of Social Affairs, was 44.2. In the Main-Kinzig-Kreis it went down from 25.2 to 22.1.
In Hesse’s largest city, Frankfurt, on the other hand, the 7-day incidence rose from 25.9 to 27.5. With a view to the current infection rate, the city is initially refraining from tightening the corona measures again. Mayor Peter Feldmann (SPD) said on Friday that it was currently not necessary to sharpen the state’s regulations at the local level.
Similar to Offenbach, the number of new infections in Hanau had been well above the critical threshold of 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days for days. Hanau had therefore tightened the countermeasures against the spread of the virus, similar to Offenbach. On Friday, the 7-day incidence fell to 39.5 cases and thus again well below the critical mark, as the Main-Kinzig district, to which the city belongs, announced.
In the fight against the corona pandemic, the city wants to rely on UV technology for disinfection – classrooms, but also buses, hospitals or authorities are possible. In order to get more clarity about new infections, for example in schools, a mobile test station is now being used in a bus in cooperation with the German Red Cross. According to the Main-Kinzig district, the station was first used at the Otto Hahn School in Hanau, where there had been several Covid 19 cases.
A limit agreed by the federal and state governments for tightened restrictions on public life is a 7-day incidence of 50. Hessen also relies on a step-by-step approach, depending on the infection rate with local restrictions.
