3,943 cases of monkey pox (monkeypox) have been identified in France as of September 20. This represents an increase
of 110 cases compared to the results of September 12 from Public Health France. The majority of cases are in Île-de-France and the virus continues to affect mainly adult men (97.5%). France has not recorded any deaths from this disease, which presents as flu-like symptoms and pimples (blister rash).
The virus, which has reappeared in Europe and North America since May, is transmitted by close contact with an infected person.
