Rennes: Alfred Gomis pushed towards the exit, three new tracks unveiled

Alfred Gomis is pushed towards the exit in Rennes. To replace him, the Breton club is looking for an experienced goalkeeper capable of accompanying the promising Dogan Alemdar. The Steve Mandanda, Yann Sommer and Fernando Muslera tracks have been confirmed by Florian Maurice.

Stade Rennais will move to the goalkeeper position during this summer transfer window. Guest of the program Pleine Lucarne on TV Rennes, Florian Maurice, the Rennes sports director, confirmed that he was expecting movement.

“I was very clear with Alfred (Gomis). He knows what the club expects. The idea is to go find a goalkeeper. It’s up to us to find the best solution for him. He didn’t have a bad season, he had an average season. But he’s a great guy. He arrived with a significant amount on his shoulders to succeed a goalkeeper who is now European champion. What I’m looking for falls within specific criteria. I have a 19-year-old goalkeeper behind me (Dogan Alemdar) who could potentially be number 1 in one or two years. The idea is to get an experienced goalkeeper. Steve Mandanda (37, OM)? Yann Sommer (33 years old, Mönchengladbach)? Fernando Muslera (36, Galatasaray)? Of the three names, they meet the criteria of what I’m looking for: international experience that would do us the greatest good. I can say that I had exchanges with their intermediaries for all three. There are many more.” dropped Florian Maurice.
