Roland Garros, 1/64 finals, men
Seibot Wild – Medvedev – 3:2 (7:6, 6:7, 2:6, 6:3, 6:4)
The Latin American continued his sensational journey to the French Open. After a triumph in qualifying, he eliminated the top tennis player thanks to a five-set win. The first two games ended in tie-breaks – Seibot Wild won in the first, and the Russian bounced back in the second.
It seemed that in the third set the pendulum finally swung towards Medvedev. With four aces and three breaks, he finished off the Brazilian in just 39 minutes. However, Seybot Wild’s response was shocking. First, the underdog spent a minute less to defeat the Russian tennis player in the fourth installment.
Further more. In the final set, the 23-year-old Brazilian scored three times on Medvedev’s serves. Seybot Wild ended the game and the duel with a successful serve of his own, converting a match point on the first try. A Russian can pack his bags home.
In the next round, the Brazilian tennis player, who has never climbed into the top hundred of the ATP classification, will meet with the Argentine Guido Pella. The fight will take place on June 1st. The veteran got into Roland Garros thanks to a protected rating, as Pella missed the entire 2022 season.
